Team Leader - Youth Services

MacDonnell Regional Council is seeking a passionate and motivated Team Leader - Youth Services to lead programs that support young people aged 5-25 years to grow up happy, healthy and strong within their communities.

This role is responsible for managing a local team and delivering youth-led programs that promote education, training, employment pathways and community engagement for young people.

About the Role

As the Team Leader - Youth Services, you will manage a team of youth service staff and oversee the planning, delivery and evaluation of youth programs within a designated community. You will work closely with community members, youth boards and partner organisations to ensure services are responsive to local needs.

You will also play an important role in supporting staff development, maintaining facilities and ensuring services meet organisational standards and funding requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise Youth Services staff in delivering youth programs
  • Design, implement and evaluate youth development activities
  • Support and mentor staff through supervision, training and coaching
  • Build strong relationships with community stakeholders and organisations
  • Identify and support young people at risk, including referrals and engagement with schools
  • Oversee program administration including reporting, data collection and timesheets
  • Maintain youth facilities, vehicles and program resources
  • Ensure compliance with workplace policies, procedures and safety standards

About You

You are a positive role model for young people with strong leadership and communication skills. You are passionate about youth development and committed to building strong, inclusive communities.

Essential Requirements

  • Certificate IV in Youth Work, Sport & Recreation, Community Development, or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated experience delivering youth programs
  • At least 1 year of supervisory experience or equivalent
  • Strong communication, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
  • Current driver's licence
  • Current First Aid certificate (or ability to obtain)
  • Ability to obtain a Working With Children Card and criminal history check
  • Strong computer and administration skills
  • Ability to work effectively in culturally diverse and remote communities

This role is based in a remote community and may involve travel to Alice Springs and other remote communities, including occasional overnight stays. The position includes both office and outdoor work, as well as travel on unsealed roads.

  • Salary Expectation: $80,000 - $95,000
  • Full-time position.
